Scotland’s Cruelty Free Fayre

20/11/10

Come along to the 2010 Compassionate Living Fayre!

Saturday 20 November sees the return of the Annual Compassionate Living Fayre to Augustine's United Church on George IV Bridge, Edinburgh. Now into its 3rd year the Fayre goes from strength to strength. The Fayre is a unique event bringing together organizations campaigning for animal rights, human rights and the environment and is designed to introduce everyone to an ethical lifestyle, with free vegan food and tips on how to make local and practical changes. Featuring a wide variety of 100% ethical goods and activities, the Fayre will also include Christmas gifts, stalls, talks, workshops, free sessions with a herbalist, lots of free food, games and prizes. Bring the children along for a fun time, where there will be face-painting, hairwraps and more! Prizes include a 2-night stay in an Edinburgh  B&B, tickets to the cinema, vouchers for a meal for 2 and much more!

The Fayre is organised annually by the Edinburgh- based charity Ethical Voice for Animals who campaign to end animal cruelty. At the Fayre we will be launching the Compassionate Living Guide Edinburgh 2010 which gives lots of information on cruelty-free living and products. A key aim of the event is to raise awareness of the disastrous effect of a meat-based diet on the climate and calls on the Scottish Government to take immediate steps to recognize and reduce the impact of the livestock industry on our environment.

A spokesperson said, “According to the World Health Organisation, the average Briton eats twice the amount of protein they need in a year. By going vegan, you can slice off almost as much CO2 in a year as skipping a single return flight to India. Going vegan is the single most effective step anyone can take to reduce animal suffering, improve your health and protect the planet. And the food is wonderful, too! What other diet can offer so much?”

So if you would like to learn more about living ethically, have a fun time and get some ethical presents for Christmas then come along to the Compassionate Living Fayre on Saturday 20 November from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm.
