Global week of action against HLS
and in solidarity with the SHAC II trial
On Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd October, six animal rights campaigners will be facing a two-day court hearing after pleading guilty to taking action against HLS. Over these two days, a judge will decide on their sentences. They were arrested in May 2007 as part of a huge police operation and have since been on strict bail conditions (and two are already in prison on remand). The police and HLS were, and still are, desperate to stop the SHAC campaign and will clearly go to any lengths to get what they want.
There are already demos arranged outside the court, as well as outside the gates of HLS in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk for both days. We expect a lot of press coverage over this time, so we will try to make sure it's the murderers inside HLS that are in the spotlight, and not compassionate people.
Starting on the first day of the trial (21st) and ending the following week (29th), we are calling for activists to carry out demos against HLS' financer Fortress (and all their associated companies), and HLS' top customers (AstraZeneca, Bayer, Merck, Sanofi Aventis, Bristol-Myers Squibb). This is for three reasons:
This is also a special week for another reason... it has a 'scary science' theme, so feel free to express yourself with appropriate skeleton masks, blood-splattered lab coats and other such scary things..!
