Briana Waters Released

Briana Waters Released from Prison Today on Bail. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the environmental activist's conviction on September 14th, 2010, based on their findings that her conviction was improper because important rulings by the trial court deprived her of a fair trial. After serving 2 and a half years, she was released from prison today, October 14, 2010, pending a re-trial. She is ecstatic about being reunited with her daughter, Kalliope.

On June 19, 2008, Briana was sentenced to six years in prison after she was falsely accused of participating in a politically motivated arson which took place at the University of Washington in May 2001; a federal jury found her guilty of two counts of arson on March 6, 2008
